How to Live a Healthier Life with Kathi Salatino
On September 2, 2021, Crittenton Services was honored to receive Kathi Salatino, a Certified Integrated and Functional Nutrition Coach, for a “Lunch and Learn” to speak to employees about overall wellness. Kathi was also kind enough to share some tips on how members of the community can live an overall healthier life. If you are interested in living healthier, see what Kathi suggests below:
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Kathi Salatino and I am a Certified Integrative and Functional Nutrition Coach, Master Level Life Coach and Certified Optimize Coach. My background and training covers the broad spectrum of dietary theories with current specialized focus on Metabolic Syndrome and Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction (TCR). Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Understanding what is going on in the body and with the person offers the pathway to generating better health and happiness.
2) How did you become interested in health and wellness?
Through my own journey of losing 100+ pounds 19 years ago. This lead me on the path of discovering how to truly help people improve their health through a multifaceted approach.
3) What aspect of health do most people neglect?
First and foremost, themselves in general. We often spend all of our energy caring for others and neglecting ourselves and the small, simple things that make us feel genuinely our best.
4) What aspect of health do most people remember/do right?
I think most people want to be healthy, so they try to find the healthy balance of "moderation", which typically just creates more frustration.
5) What is the biggest lesson you have learned from the current COVID-19 pandemic?
The importance of connection, self care and that our health practices have been challenged on many levels.
6) As we head into another school year and the Delta variant surges, what advice would you give parents?
Build up healthy habits of being well resourced. Quality sleep, reduce screen times, encourage creative activity, and most importantly, reduce the amount of sugar and processed foods they are consuming.
7) What piece of advice would you give to someone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle?
Take an honest look at what your habits are daily. What could you prioritize that would support you feeling more like a stronger, healthier you?
Thank you Kathi for sharing your wisdom and expertise with us.
